"Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name---the name you gave me---so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:10)
We hear Jesus talk about being one with Him when He says, "I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." (John 15:15) In the Christian life, godly wealth is measured by one's friends. God, therefore, is wealthy as people choose friendship with Him. People are wealthy when we, for the sake of our love for God, choose people to befriend.
One of the core and key purposes of the church is to live in the kind of relationships that make it possible for people to enjoy authentic friendships. It is impossible to speak of meaningful relationship without the feeling of connection with God and with people.
In our day, we have to be intentional about building relationships that grow and mature into friendships that stand the test of time. For Jesus followers, these relationships are:
- mutual
- Christ-centered
- strengthened through growth in commitment
- valued by personal time investment
What is ancient is also made relevant for today. In this way, we believe that we are "rooted" in ancient truths and making them "relevant" to today's world. For example, we sing songs written in the 10th Century BC and we sing songs written in the last 10 years. We read the stories of the Bible, all of which are birthed in antiquity, but we interpret them to the people of today who are concerned about living in a post-Modern Information Age. Globalism has touched our lives in very personal ways, as 21st Century people, so we examine the lives of tribal peoples who experienced the pressures of multi-culturalism, as well. Through worship, we are bridging the experience of ancient peoples with post-modern ones, in hope that we might worship the same God who stands beyond time and space to draw us to Himself.
It takes a lifetime to learn to worship God well, so we practice regularly at Living Faith. We encourage you to join us and learn alongside us, being reminded often that our God is the God of the living and the dead, a truly awesome and wonderful God. We invite you to explore our website under the Connect tab and learn how you can Connect with Living Faith through prayer, caring and sharing.
