Adult Ministry

Adults who are hoping for more growth in their life with Jesus should find help among us from groupings of Jesus followers that are relational and practical:

One-on-One Mentoring:  Mentoring relationships are designed to provide someone with a soul friend or a spiritual director who is available to come alongside and provide some guidance for this phase of life's journey.  A mentor is available to care as a friend cares in hope that a safe place might be found to raise life's most difficult questions--the very thing the Lord can use to advance His Kingdom in the life of another.

A Triad Group:  The prayer of St. John Chrysostom reminds us that when two or three are gathered in the Lord's Name, He is in their midst.  Sometimes a small gathering of friends provides the intimacy of mentoring, but with a broadening of perspective given by having another in the conversation.  A group of this size is effective when there is a regularity in meeting, honesty and vulnerability in sharing, outside homework in the reading and study of the Scriptures and commitment to daily prayer.

Small Groups:  Small groups usually form around 6-10 participants who commit their time to a weekly or bi-weekly schedule that allows them a 90-minute meeting to foster spiritual growth.  These groups are most helpful when people make a commitment to befriend one another and when friendships form, small groups become extended families and families can re-focus themselves many times over when they share a deep and abiding love for one another.

Classes:  When groups grow beyond 10 or 12 people, the level of intimacy decreases and when this happens, often the subject matter for the study takes on a larger focus, while relationships may be de-emphasized.  In fact, this produces less personal growth for the participants, but classes can be safer for people who are new in the community or who struggle with high levels of intimacy in relationships.  Classes come in many forms and can be organized around virtually any subject matter, but we generally focus ourselves on the Bible or on books of particular spiritual importance.

Seminars:  We provide seminars on various topics on an occasional basis because we care for the needs of people.  A seminar may only require a couple of hours to cover the material or it may require a little longer, but the point of a seminar is to offer a service which satisfies unmet needs of people.
