Throughout life, people go through seasons and stages of life experience.  Anglicans experience life as a journey that must be walked.  Moreover, it is a pilgrimage which makes us a companion of Jesus who leads on the journey.  Pilgrims are always called by God to journey with God while walking the road toward the fullness of God as it is revealed in Jesus His Son.  When we are a pilgrim, we are meant to mark and celebrate time as God's time, which makes living for God more possible.

Living Faith recognizes that there are special seasons and points on the pilgrimage whereby we might pause and celebrate what God has done or invite Him to move us forward into a new season of life.  Sacraments are signs and symbols of some of these moments to pause and celebrate or ask for help for a new season.  There are two sacraments that we find are referenced by Jesus: Baptism and Holy Eucharist or Holy Communion.  These two sacraments mark our relationship with Jesus and draw us into fellowship weekly through a shared communion meal.

There are five other sacraments which relate to specific life changes that some people experience but may not be experienced by all:

  • Confirmation completes baptism for children and young people
  • Holy Martrimony draws a man and a woman together in a covenant relationship with Jesus
  • Holy Orders enable Christian leaders to exercise spiritual covenant authority for leadership over others
  • Confession enables us to receive deep reconciliation with Jesus and others
  • Anointing of the Sick provides for physical and spiritual supernatural healing

In addition, we celebrate the conception of babies, the adoption of children by families, the gift of a new home and a host of other ways to celebrate what God is doing in our lives as pilgrims on the Way of Jesus in a world so desperate for His love.
